Emma

Summer 2017

We received a call from Emma early 2017 for her wedding taking place in July, to discuss the possibility to have her dress made as she just could not find what she had in mind, i.e. colour, a floral print (perhaps a rose print) and most importantly she loved the style of her own evening dress by Coast, wishing she could have something similar for her wedding dress. Emma came to see me on a Friday evening after work with said Coast dress. I loved the dress and I got straight away why she felt so strong about it – it was a soft black taffeta dress with a hand painted floral motive. So we decided to take the styling of the dress as inspiration but really exaggerating the skirt, i.e. fuller, longer, pockets, deeper pleading. Also we pulled out Ralph & Russo as well as Dolce & Gabbana’s amazing printed evening dresses from 2016 on Pintrest for some inspiration on the skirt.

Emma – who has her own online children’s clothes company – wanted her dress to be elegant and simple but bolt and striking to represent her personality. We looked at different layers of gold/champagne organza and taffeta, also a red rose printed organza and a gold sequin fleur-de-lis motive. Emma was very excited and we felt that we had found what she was looking for.

We had a great time over the next couple of months making her dress and everyone was very happy with the results.
